I’m a desert tour operator who has worked professionally in the Egyptian desert for 15 years , I used to operate tours to the remote area of the Gilf Kebir in Egypt. My work included :

Research &  survey, 

Route planning, 

Navigation & driving the lead vehicle, 

Vehicles & equipment preparation,  

Crew management & Guiding travelers totally self contained for 2000 km of desert without a single track, road or piste !

 In  2016  For several reasons I decided to move my operations to Oman, which I knew about from the book Arabian Sands by the great explorer Wilfred Thesiger; having a personal interest in the Bedouin tribes, tracing their history and ways of life I had all

of Thesiger’s books in my library for a long time . The main attraction for me towards the desert was the feeling of peace that comes with solitude (which is priceless), the satisfaction that comes from hardship (to a similar but lesser degree than Thesiger), but also exploring the beauty of  our Earth and its virgin landscapes as well as  learning about prehistory and geology and the million stars we see so clearly when we camp, far from any human habitation, deep

in the pristine desert.
